Hilton Garden Inn signs first franchise agreement in Central America
Hilton Garden Inn has signed its first franchise agreement in Central America with Hoteles Aeropuerto, of which Enjoy Group and DWL are partners. The Hilton Garden Inn Liberia Airport located in Liberia, Guanacaste, Costa Rica is scheduled to open in autumn 2008. It will feature 160 guest rooms including 10 suites and will offer a full service restaurant, evening room service, the ‘Pavilion' lobby which features a living room area and the Pavilion Pantry shop offering a selection of ready made meals, beverages and snacks.

The Rezidor Hotel Group announces global partnership
The Rezidor Hotel Group has unveiled a global partnership with charity the World Childhood Foundation. Activities in the company's hotels in Europe, Africa and the Middle East will support the organisation which was founded in 1999 by H.M. Queen Silvia of Sweden and seeks to protect street children, children in institutions and young mothers at risk. The global partnership is a further step in Rezidor's Responsible Business Programme and replaces its partnership with Save the Children for which Rezidor raised €165,000 (£115,000) in three years.

Choice continues expansion
Choice Hotels International has continued it expansion and has announced the opening of 59 franchised properties during the month of August, including the first new-construction Suburban Extended Stay Hotel property. The openings include hotels in 24 states and five countries that add more than 4,800 rooms to the company's existing 445,000-plus rooms.

Golden Tulip adds three hotels in UAE The Golden Tulip Hospitality Group has added thee new hotels in the United Arab Emirates to its portfolio. The hotels include the 1,000-room five-star Golden Tulip Ajman, which is scheduled to open early next year and will be located close to both Sharjah International and Dubai International airports. The second property is the Golden Tulip Sharjah, a hotel comprised of 264 suites and apartments and due to open this October. The third property is the 125-room Golden Tulip Al Barsha, which opened in June. Facilities at the three hotels include fitness and health centres, as well as dining outlets, meeting facilities and retail outlets.

Marriott to increase number of Quan Spas in Asia-Pacific
Marriott International plans to expand its spa brand to new locations in Asia-Pacific. The company plans to open 12 new Quan Spas over the next 24 months throughout the region. The new spas will be located at the JW Marriott, Marriott and Renaissance hotels in China, India and Indonesia. The Quan Spa concept was developed by Rhett Pickering, director of spa operations and development for Marriott's Asia-Pacific Region. "Quan" means "a source of pure water" and is derived from the Chinese character for ‘white' (Bai) and ‘water' (Shui).
