Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza introduce big screens for World Cup
Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza have invested £5m in a technology upgrade throughout their 64 UK hotels, in time for the World Cup.
The investment has seen the installation of 50in HD TV screens throughout the hotels' lounges and restaurants for the football tournament. Over the next 12 months, 32in flat-screen TVs will be introduced into all bedrooms, 37in HD TVs into all suites, and high-speed internet access across all properties.
"With the fever building up to the games, our new big-screen TVs will let guests and fans at Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn hotels across the country experience the big match atmosphere," said Christopher Rawstron, vice-president of operations at Holiday Inn.
The technology investment coincides with the hotels' launch of a South African food and beverage promotion called Extra Time, which will run from 11 June to 11 July.
Guests and non-hotel guests will have the chance to win thousands of prizes, including a South African safari, through scratch and win cards with every purchase.
Meanwhile, anyone wishing to escape the football can get 20% off selected body treatments, with members able to take along a friend for free.
"Corporate guests are also more than welcome, and can book a meeting room on a match day and get three hours free to watch the big games," said Rawstron.
