Holiday Inn Express London Stansted Airport up for sale for £16m

The 254-bedroom Holiday Inn Express London Stansted Airport has been put on the market for offers in excess of £16m.

Christie + Co has been instructed to handle the sale of the property, which is one of Europe's largest Holiday Inn Express hotels.

The purpose built hotel is said to be highly profitable and is being marketed with a franchise agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).

Kew Green Hotels, the current operator, said it would be happy to enter into a management agreement should the purchaser require it.

Last year Stansted Airport recorded its busiest year since 2007, with 22.6 million passengers passing through the terminal, an increase of 2.6 million passengers and 13% on the previous 12 months.

New routes, both long and short haul, are expected to be announced in 2016 by Stansted Airport, which is currently the UK's fourth largest airport.

"The hotel is highly profitable and offers further growth potential as Stansted continues to expand to meet the demand placed upon London's airports."
