Hotel du Vin adds site in Cheltenham

Boutique hotel group Hotel du Vin is continuing to expand after a deal was signed this week for a 46-bedroom property in Cheltenham.

The Carlton hotel in the town centre's Montpelier district will undergo substantial redevelopment before reopening as a Hotel du Vin in September 2007. The project is expected to cost about £10m for purchase and refurbishment.

The news comes a week after contracts were exchanged for Allan House on Newcastle's quayside, which is due to become a 42-bedroom Hotel du Vin. The development will cost about £8m and is due to open in March 2008.

The deals bring the group's total portfolio to 25, including Malmaison properties.
