Hotel operator Legacy adds new site to portfolio

Hotel management company Legacy has been named as preferred hotel operator at a new mixed-use development near Lancaster.

Legacy will operate a £10m, 50-bedroom, four-star hotel and leisure facility complex called Middleton Towers at Middleton Village, which is being built by developer Prestigious Living.

Phase-one construction of 34 apartments and bungalows has now begun at what the developer claims will be the largest retirement village of its kind in the UK.

The hotel is due to open in spring 2007.

Andy Townsend, chief executive of Legacy, said: "We have been in negotiations about Middleton for several months and are very excited about the prospect of working with Prestigious Living."

Legacy runs the Falcon hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon; The Bramhall country hotel in Manchester; The Oaklands country house hotel near Grimsby; The Chesterfield hotel and the Wild Pheasant hotel in Langollen.
