Hoxton set sights on LA hotel

Hoxton, the design-led budget brand, is believed to be on the verge of announcing the opening of a hotel in Los Angeles.

Located in Downtown LA on Broadway in an area of the city that has undergone gentrification in the past two to three years, the hotel is expected to be developed within a derelict 1920s building, which once housed offices.

Yet to receive planning permission, the hotel will include between 150 and 200 bedrooms, three restaurants and a rooftop swimming poll. It is likely to open in 2017.

If confirmed, the Hoxton LA hotel will join a portfolio of properties that currently comprises two hotels in London (Shoreditch and Holborn) and one in Amsterdam. Further openings are in the pipeline for Paris and New York early next year, and Southwark, south London, in 2018.

The original Hoxton hotel in Shoreditch was founded by Sinclair Beecham within a redeveloped car park in 2006 after he became frustrated with "rip-off prices" at other hotels.

Ennismore, led by Sharan Pasricha, bought the property in 2012 for around £65m and has since gone on to expand the brand. Pasricha told The Caterer in October 2015 said that he hope to grow the Hoxton to around four hotels in London and eight overseas.
