Ickworth hotel on the market for £7.5m-plus

Former Luxury Family Hotels property, Ickworth hotel in Suffolk, has been put up for sale.

Property agent Humberts is seeking offers in excess of £7.5m for the 27-bedroom hotel and 11 nearby self-catering lodges in Bury St Edmonds.

Ickworth was part of the four-strong Luxury Family Hotels (LFH) group, which Von Essen Hotels acquired for £20m last December.

But the hotel's acquisition was delayed when problems with the lease emerged.

Tony Nares, finance director at Von Essen for the LFH brand, said financial covenants in the current lease made it unmortgageable, although the company was continuing talks in an attempt to strike a deal.
