IHG opens 5,000th hotel
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has marked its 5,000th global opening with the launch of the 293-bedroom Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York.
The hotel is a joint venture between IHG and Brack Capital Real Estate and is IHG's third for the Hotel Indigo brand in New York.
Richard Solomons, chief executive officer, IHG, said: "Reaching 5,000 open hotels is an incredible milestone for IHG. It is testament to our well-established, long-term strategy for high-quality growth, and the strength of our brands, which focus on distinct segments to cater to a broad range of guest needs and occasions."
The recent opening of the 453-bedroom InterContinental London - the O2 helped IHG reach its milestone figure and the hotel now forms part of the company's ‘5,000 Club' . IHG operates in nearly 100 countries.
