IHG pledges $10m in aid as part of new corporate responsibility targets

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has pledged to give $10m (£6.2m) in financial donations and aid to global disaster zones over the next four years.

The support for the IHG Shelter in a Storm Programme was announced today as part of the company's new set of corporate responsibility targets for 2013 to 2017.

Other key pledges include:

· reducing carbon footprint per occupied room by 12% through the IHG Green Engage online system, which minimises the group's impact on the environment,

· reducing water use per occupied room in water-stressed areas by 12%, and

· provide skills and improved employability to 20,000 people via the IHG Academy.
