IHG to open first hotel in Georgian capital
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is to open the first InterContinental hotel in Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia. Scheduled to open early 2010, the property will offer 155 rooms and suites, 15 serviced apartments, a fully-equipped business centre and a variety of leisure facilities. Jennifer Fox, COO of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts Europe, said: "The signing of the InterContinental Tbilisi, the eighth addition to our European portfolio this year, reinforces our brand's passion for growth as well as our commitment to Europe."
Mandarin Oriental expands in SpainMandarin Oriental Hotel Group is to launch a new property in Spain with the opening of the Mandarin Oriental Marbella in 2010. The 153-room property will also include 19 villas and 61 residential apartments which will be branded and managed as Residences at Mandarin Oriental. The hotel will have seven restaurants and bars as well as a 2,700sq m spa featuring 11 private treatment rooms, relaxation areas and a fitness centre with swimming pool. Other leisure facilities include a private beach club and full golfing facilities.
Rocco Forte names Prague hotelThe Rocco Forte Collection has announced that its Prague property is to be named The Augustine. The 101-room hotel, due to open next summer, is being created from a complex of five historic buildings, the largest and most important being the 13th century Augustinian St Thomas's Monastery. The hotel will feature a number of restaurants and bars as well as a 150sq m main function room and a second 85sq m function room; a purpose-designed meeting facility with business centre, two meeting rooms and two boardrooms; and a health and fitness centre with gym, four treatment rooms, sauna, steam room and relaxation area.
Marriott to open new hotel in TexasMarriott is to launch a new property in Texas, USA, with the opening of the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa in 2010. Located 20 minutes from the San Antonio International Airport, the 1,002-room resort will include a range of dining outlets and a multi-media sports bar. Facilities will also feature a water playground, more than 140,000sq ft of meeting space, a luxury spa and two 18-hole Tournament Players Clubs golf courses.
