Improved London hotel figures for November

London hotels achieved a year-on-year increase in occupancy and room rates during November, against the grain for falling figures the previous month, according to provisional figures from hotel data company STR.

However, the improved figures are in comparison to November 2015, when London suffered the aftershock of the terror attacks in Paris, France.

Occupancy during November jumped 5.4% to 86.1%, while average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (revpar) increased by 2.6% to £153.07 and by 8.2% to £131.78 respectively.

The absolute revpar level is the highest for a November in London since 1994, while the occupancy growth figure is the largest since July 2013.

Meanwhile, the 3% increase in supply was more than overshadowed by the 8.5% rise in demand.

STR's data for October showed that occupancy and ADR rates recorded the largest year-on-year fall for the month since 2001.
