Industry heavyweights launch hotel management company

A new hotel management company has been launched to focus on the operation of properties owned by high net worth individuals.

The aptly named Hotel Management Company (HMC) - sister company to hotel consultancy business, the Buell Group - is headed by a number of industry heavyweights including Peter Lederer (pictured), former chairman of Gleneagles; Charles Prew, former chief executive of Barcelo and now chairman of Nadler Hotels; and Jeremy Logie, one time chief executive of the Institute of Hospitality.

Logie, chairman of HMC, said he and his colleagues had identified an opportunity to provide "practical, personalised and professional management services" to hotel owners and investors.

"We have a particular focus on high net worth owners and investors who have a desire to invest in but not operate hotels, as well as banks, RE houses and other financial institutions," he explained. "With the support of the Buell Group, which provides unrivalled access to high quality advisory and service partner companies, we offer a truly unique combination of knowledge, expertise and resource."

The company has secured its first contracts including the Green Hotel Golf & Leisure Resort and the Windlestrae Hotel in Kinross, Perthshire, both which have 46 bedrooms.

Jamie Montgomery, owner of the two properties, said: "Introducing the Hotel Management Company has proved to be a seminal step in driving forward the performance of our hotels. Their personal, hands-on approach has proved a great asset and I am delighted with the decision we made to appoint them to this important role".

The HMC will operate or asset manage a wide range of hotels from full and limited service three and four-star properties to boutique, five-star hotels and resorts.
