Janet Gurr appointed manager of Sheffield's Kennwood Hall hotel

Former senior manager at Sheffield United Football Club, Janet Gurr, has returned to the city to take over the helm of the four-star Kenwood Hall hotel.

Gurr has more than 15 years' experience in the hospitality industry and joins the Principal Hayley-owned establishment from its sister venue, the Derbyshire hotel.

Gurr embarked on her managerial career in 1995 as conference and banqueting manager with a national hotel chain. In 2004 she became operations manager of both Alton Towers hotel and Splash Landings hotel, before changing tack to become leisure services manager at Sheffield United in 2008.
