Jeanne Whittome takes over as chairman of the Hoste Arms

Jeanne Whittome has taken over as chairman of the Hoste Arms in Burnham Market, Norfolk, following the death of her husband, Paul, in July.

She said she was determined to carry on in her husband's memory, further developing the 35-bedroom hotel and putting new ideas into action.

New plans for 2011 include the refurbishment of several bedrooms and the launch of the Hoste Beauty Spa on 27 January.

"This is something that I planned with Paul, and he was very excited and keen that I put it into action," said Jeanne. "We are also going to be offering beauty and wellness breaks at the hotel as well."

Jeanne explained that her two daughters had now become more involved at the Hoste Arms, with Natasha (left) looking after the interior design and Lauren (right) involved in the web marketing.

"This has allowed me to concentrate on the everyday running of each department; however, the design and style of the hotel will always remain my main passion."

Paul died, aged 55, after an 18-month battle against cancer. He won the Pub and Bar Operator of the Year Catey in 1999.
