Jurys Inn Islington to become flagship hotel following £12m extension
Jurys Inn Islington on Pentonville Road, London, will become the 32-strong hotel group's flagship property following a £12.1m expansion.
Due for completion in September 2014, the project will include the addition of 143 bedrooms to create a total of 372 rooms, as well as a total refurbishment of the 15-year old hotel.
There will also be a new conference centre - incorporating seven meeting rooms, gym, remodelled lobby and restaurant and the installation of a Costa coffee bar.
John Brennan, chief executive Jurys Inn (pictured on the left with Thomas Doyle, the hotel's general manager) said the new-look property will showcase a new direction for the group in terms of design and style. "It will present a contemporary interior and sophisticated atmosphere whilst continuing to offer affordable accommodation and a warm and friendly service for our guests.
"Islington was the first Jurys Inn hotel in London so this project marks an exciting time for the group and we are looking forward to witnessing the transformation that will take place."
The Islington extension is part of a wider refurbishment programme across the Jurys Inn group with over 1005 bedrooms and public areas having received a complete makeover in 2012. The group has earmarked £25m for projects up to the end of 2014 as part of an on-going refurbishment programme, to include improvements to IT systems.
