Keswick hotel goes to local operators
Rickerby Grange hotel in the Lake District village of Portinscale has been sold to the owners of the nearby Pitcairn House guest house in Keswick.
Portinscale is located one mile north of Keswick, between Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake, at the entrance to Borrowdale Valley.
The hotel was built in 1926 as a grange to the nearby Rickerby Farm and extended in subsequent years.
Rickerby Grange provides 10 en-suite bedrooms to sleep 22, with two more en-suite bedrooms used as additional owners' accommodation on top of the three-bedroom owners' flat.
Other facilities include a residents' bar lounge with a bay window and a 22-seat dining room with French windows opening onto the rear garden.
The Manchester office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the freehold of a guide price of £785,000 to Des and Carol Taylorson on behalf of Joe and Audrey Fagan.
The property agent also sold the freehold on the Taylorson's former business, Pitcairn House guest house, to Heather Hendy and partner from King's Lynn in Norfolk off an asking price of £525,000.
Pitcairn House is a Victorian property offering eight bedrooms (five en-suite), a 16-seat breakfast room and three-bedroom owners' accommodation.
