Grant hotels has bought the Kincraig Castle hotel in Invergordon, Ross-shire.

The former ancestral home of the Clan Mackenzie was acquired from Wickman hotels. It had been on the market for £1.3m.

The four-star, 15-bedroom hotel is set over 10 acres of grounds and offers views of the Cromarty Firth. Its restaurant holds two AA rosettes.

Amy Grant, the hotel's managing director, said: "Our top priority is to provide the very best service possible and to enhance guests' overall experience while staying and dining at the Kincraig Castle Hotel."

Alistair Letham, a director with selling agent Colliers International, added: "Kincraig Castle Hotel is an outstandingly attractive, typically Scottish, property and its quality of product and service is reflected in its numerous awards. The business has enjoyed year-on-year growth, boosted by the excellent commercial business centred on the Cromarty Firth area, which should offer further opportunities for growth in 2014 and beyond."
