Pensons

Pensons restaurant has opened at the Netherwood Estate on the Herefordshire/Worcestershire border. The restaurant is overseen by chef Lee Westcott, former head chef at the Typing Room at the Town Hall hotel in London's Bethnal Green. Pensons is housed within former farm buildings dating from the 15th century.

Seasonal produce is largely sourced and foraged from the estate's livestock, crops, orchards, kitchen garden, woodlands and lakes. Westcott is also collaborating with local producers, while fish and shellfish are sourced from the west Cornish coast.

The restaurant is open for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday and for lunch from Thursday to Sunday, offering three courses à la carte for £50, a tasting menu for £75 or a lunch menu with two courses for £27 or three for £32.

Bedford Lodge Mews

The four-red-AA-star Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa in Newmarket, Suffolk, has opened its new expansion, the Mews, which is available to book on an exclusive basis. The development, accommodating up to six guests, comprises one executive suite, two superior rooms and an eight-cover private dining area, as well as dedicated parking. The expansion brings the hotel's total number of rooms up to 80.

London Cocktail Club Old Street

London Cocktail Club has opened a secret garden party-themed bar in London's Old Street. The new site features a Victorian-style veranda with arches of roses, swinging seats, Moroccan-style festival tents with red curtains and lamps, as well as a private conservatory with day beds and a Negroni fountain.

The Wellington Arms

The Wellington Arms pub in Stratfield Turgis, Hampshire, has unveiled 25 bedrooms, each named after the Duke of Wellington's war battles. Each room features Espa bergamot and jasmine toiletries, chocolates from Hampshire-based Choose and a Mozzo coffee machine. One room is a suite and features a freestanding bath in the bedroom.
