Legacy takes on management of Highbullen Hotel and Resort to prepare for sale
Hotel management company Legacy Hotels and Resorts is to add its first golf resort to its portfolio of more than 30 properties.
H & P Neil, owners of the newly named 32-bedroom Legacy Highbullen Hotel and Resort in Chittlehamholt, Umberleigh, Devon have appointed Legacy to fully operate the resort on their behalf and improve performance in preparation for its sale.
Led by general manager Dawn Morgan, the 40 staff will be retained at the resort, which is set within 220 acres.
Legacy's chief executive Andy Townsend (pictured) said he was delighted to be operating and managing the resort in Devon, which with its 18-hole golf course, leisure club, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and tennis courts, and bowling alley, should become a magnet for business and leisure visitors.
"We have an established track record of developing hotels which are under-performing for one reason or another and there is no doubt we can make our mark on this destination venue," said Townsend.
"I am confident we can gain some momentum during our time at the helm of the business, having already increased forecast occupancy year on year for the summer months in excess of 24%, which has to be good both for the operation but also the local community within which the resort operates."
Established in 2005, Legacy Hotel and Resorts currently operates more than 30 hotels and resorts in the UK and Spain, with a total of 2,000 bedrooms.
