Les Routiers 2009 winners revealed
Travel guide Les Routiers has announced the winners of its 2009 UK hospitality awards.
The guide has recognised eight independently-owned hospitality businesses across the UK, with the restaurant of the year award going to Simply Blues in Hornchurch and Leigh on Sea, Essex.
The award for the best dining pub went to Somers Town Coffeehouse in London, while the Compasses Inn in Littleley Green, Chelmsford, won best pub and the Troubadour in London picked up best café of the year.
Dunoon in Llandudno, Glamorgan, Wales, won hotel of the year, with Stoke Rochford Hall in Lincolnshire being named best country retreat and Glangrwyney Court, Crickhowell, Powys, Wales, winning the best bed & breakfast award.
In 2006, the Les Routiers guide collapsed into liquidation but was rescued by a former partner who stepped in to resurrect the business.
Purchasing consortium IPA, which used to offer Les Routiers members a bulk-buying service, stumped up the cash for the guide's 2007 edition.
