Local buyers for East Devon hotel

The two-star Monkton Court hotel in the East Devon village of Monkton has changed hands.

The 19th-century country hotel, believed to have been a small manor house, fronts the A30 just north of Honiton and is within easy reach of the Jurassic coast and the resorts of Lyme Regis and Sidmouth.

The property, which sits on four acres of land that contains a trade garden, orchard and paddock, provides seven en-suite letting bedrooms to sleep 16, a residents' lounge, a character main bar, and a 32-seat restaurant.

There is also a spacious three-bedroom owners' cottage with a one-bedroom annexe and a private garden.

The Plymouth office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the freehold off an asking price of around £895,000 to local businessmen Colin and Jennifer Wheatley-Brown on behalf of Anthony Yeo and Adrian Pavey.
