Local operator buys second hotel overlooking Prestwick Golf Club

Baljit Singh, owner of the Prestwick Old Course hotel in Ayrshire, has bought a second property in the same road overlooking the Prestwick Golf Club.

His latest acquisition is the North Beach hotel which has views over the 18th green of the golf club (which hosted the first British Open Championship in 1860).

The three-star hotel in the commuter town of Prestwick has been under the same family ownership for 22 years.

The detached building retains a number of period features such as wood panelling, ornate plastering and fire places.

Along with 13 en-suite bedrooms, it offers an 85-seat restaurant that can hold 100 guests for functions, a club house bar, and one-bedroom owners' accommodation.

The Glasgow office of Christie + Co sold the freehold off a guide price of £950,000 on behalf of Alan Brown.
