Local operators snap up landmark Lake District guesthouse

Colin and Vicky Monk have snapped up the landmark Howbeck guesthouse in the Lake District National Park off an asking price of £1.05m.

They intend to run the 10-bedroom property on Lake Road in Windermere alongside their existing business, the Glenburn hotel, which is sited further down the same road.

"Howbeck is known as one of the best performing guesthouses in the Lake District National Park," commented Hadyn Spedding from the Manchester office of Colliers Robert Barry, which acted on behalf of retiring owners Richard and Hazel Manning.

The property, which sits on one of the main tourist routes in the national park, also provides three-bedroom owners' or staff accommodation.
