Lodore Falls hotel completes first step of £8m refurbishment
The four-AA-star, 69-bedroom Lodore Falls hotel in Borrowdale, Cumbria, has reopened following the completion of the first phase of an £8m refurbishment programme.
Overlooking Derwentwater, the Lake District Hotels-owned property has unveiled a new look ground floor including a refurbished lobby, lounge and restaurant, following a six week closure. The new décor reflects the local landscape, with an abundance of slate and wood; a palate of soft green, purple and burnt orange; and paintings from local artists.
June will see the completion of the newly decorated Garden Suite function room and conservatory extension, while a new brasserie and four luxury bedroom suites will open in December. The final element of the refurbishment will be revealed in spring 2018 with the launch of a new spa and 14 bedroom suites.
i Hope, marketing director of Lake District Hotels, said the group is "delighted" at the first stage of improvements. "A lot of time and work has gone into the project, from the initial planning, to the hard work from local tradesmen, along with many of our employees, who have worked tirelessly to get the hotel up and running in time."
Owned by the Graves family, Lake District Hotels comprises seven properties including the Inn on the Lake in Ullswater and Inn on the Square in Keswick.
