London hotels post strong performance in December

The festive season brought good cheer to London hotels during December with a positive set of results recorded across all metrics, according to new figures published by data company STR.

Revenue per available per room (revpar) led the way, up 11.4% year-on-year to £128.09, while average room rate increased by 6.2% to £156.4 compared to December 2017.

Occupancy rose by 5% year-on-year to 81.9%, and a 7.3% increase in demand outstripped the 2.3% in new bedroom supply.

New Year's Eve was the strongest day of the month, with revpar up 17.8% to £219.39.

STR will release its full December results later this month.
