Macdonald Hotels adds Simon Jackson to group board

Macdonald Hotels and Resorts has added Simon Jackson, group sales director and chief executive of Macdonald Resorts, to its group board.

Jackson joined the group, one of the UK's largest independent hotel groups, in 2003 as marketing director of Macdonald Resorts, having previously worked in the US, Europe and the Caribbean for leisure brands including Airtours and Diamond Resorts International. He was appointed chief executive of the resorts business in 2005, and was also appointed group sales director in 2013.

Deputy chairman and group managing director Gordon Fraser said: "Simon's appointment to the group board reflects his substantial contribution to the company over the past 13 years in various roles and he will play a significant role in the next phase of the company's development."

Jackson added: "This is an enormously exciting time for the company, with significant opportunities to build on our strong performances in recent years. The board has high ambitions and a clear commitment to invest in our people and our customer experience across the estate."
