Macdonald Hotels promotes deputy chief executive to the board

Macdonald Hotels has promoted deputy chief executive David Guile to its board, with immediate effect.

His key responsibilities comprise resourcing, staff development and service quality.

"In my role as deputy chief executive, my main focus is people and my appointment to the board will provide an essential link between employees and the group's directors," Guile said.

He started his career with Crest Hotels as a trainee manager in 1985. He worked for Forte Posthouse and Heritage Hotels before joining Macdonald's as regional managing director for the South-east in 2001.

Guile was promoted to deputy chief executive in March of this year.

The appointment comes as Macdonalds attempt to reposition itself further upmarket in the premium four- and five-star market.
