Makie Chu appointed GM of Dorsett City hotel

Makie Chu has been appointed general manager of the Dorsett City hotel in London, Dorsett Hospitality International's second hotel in the UK.

Chu is the hotel's first general manager and joins from her most recent role as senior regional director of sales at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts' Greater China worldwide sales office. She has also held senior regional executive positions with Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts and the Westin Hotel Group.

The 267-bedroom Dorsett City in Aldgate opened in April last year following the group's first UK property which opened in 2014, the 317-bedroom Dorsett Shepherd's Bush.

Dorsett City has been overseen by hotel manager Mark Heyburn and Hilary Cross, area general manager of both London properties, both of whom will continue in their positions.

"With her extensive hospitality experience and expertise as well as her sharp business and marketing acumen, we are confident Makie will be one of our most important talents and will definitely add great value to our UK operations."

Hong Kong-based Dorsett Hospitality International owns and manages 54 hotels in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. More openings are planned for the UK including a 200-plus-bedroom hotel in London's Canary Wharf, and another property earmarked for Hornsey in the London borough of Haringey.
