Malmaison Aberdeen scores hat trick in Corker awards
The Malmaison Aberdeen was the big winner in the annual Corker awards, held to celebrate the achievements of staff at Malmaison and sister group Hotel du Vin.
Held last night at the Malmaison Birmingham, The Corkers named the 80-bedroom Malmaison Aberdeen as the hotel of the year, as well as presenting awards to three members of its staff.
Andy Roger was announced as general manager of the year, Sebastiano Ingaliso as wine champion/sommelier of the year and goods controller Gary Falconer as unsung hero of the year.
Malmaison Aberdeen is the newest property in the group, having opened in November 2008. It received the top award for maintaining standards under extreme pressure, surpassing high expectations and offering first class service and guest interaction.
Ninety staff from the 12 Malmaison and 15 Hotel du Vin properties and guests attended the event.
"The Corkers are the cornerstone of what makes Malmaison and Hotel du Vin so successful," said chief executive Robert Cook.
"Our people are our greatest asset and it gives us great satisfaction to see the delight of our winners, at this eagerly anticipated annual event. It is also another opportunity to applaud their achievements and continue to recognise talent across the group.
"It's my proudest night of the year seeing the winner's faces."
