Man charged following fire at Kinloch Lodge on Isle of Skye

A man is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court today on a charge connected to a fire that broke out at the luxury Kinloch Lodge hotel on the Isle of Skye in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police Scotland said that officers were called to the hotel soon after 3am following a report of a disturbance.

"Partners from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene to extinguish a fire within a room at the building," said a police spokesperson.

"Nobody was injured as a result of the incident. A 25-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident."

It is believed the fire was located in the staff accommodation at the hotel.

Kinloch Lodge, owned by the Macdonald family, was recently named Luxury Hotel of the Year in the 2019 Good Hotel Guide.
