Manchester hotels record 30.3% increase in total gross operating profit

Manchester topped the charts in regional hotel performance during February with a 30.3% increase in total gross operating profit (goppar), according to the latest data from HotStats.

An increase of 4.7 percentage points in occupancy across the city, combined with a 9.4% rise in average room rate (ARR) to £82.58, resulted in an increase in revenue per available room (revpar) of 16%.

The new figures will give the plethora of new hotels opening in Manchester great encouragement. Last month saw the launch of Hotel Football Old Trafford, while next month will see the opening of Hotel Gotham (pictured) from Bespoke Hotels.

Elsewhere across the UK, the north east also contributed to the positive bottom line performance of the provinces by registering a 20.7% increase in goppar. A combined increased in occupancy by 2.6 percentage points and 5.6%rise in ARR resulted in a 9.3% uplift to £53.28.
