Manchester's Lowry general manager heads to the Maldives
John Philipson, general manager of Manchester's five-star Lowry Hotel, is to leave the company for sunnier climes.
Philipson is set to move to a new role with Six Senses Resort and Spa group as area director for the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
In the Maldives he will be responsible for the existing Soneva Fushi and Suneva Gili properties, as well as overseeing the building of a third property Soneva Lamuu. In Sri Lanka his focus will be on prospecting for new properties and expanding the spa concept.
Philipson, who will leave the Lowry on 16 March, said: "I will miss Rocco Forte hotels, but I am looking forward to gaining a bit of resort experience."
A new general manager for the Lowry is expected to be named by the end of the month.
