Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park names new head chef

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park has appointed Chris Tombling as its new head chef.

Tombling, who has featured on Masterchef as a coach to contestants, began his career with Mandarin Oriental at The Park restaurant, later working at The Landmark hotel in London and aboard luxury cruise ships, before returning to Mandarin Oriental in 1997.

As head chef, Tombling will oversee the culinary strategy and operations at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park.

According to the hotel, his immediate challenge will be to "develop a seasonal outdoors menu for the new open air Park Terrace and adjoining event space", whilst integrating these concepts with the hotel's existing restaurant and banqueting operations.

Mandarin Oriental now operates, or has under development, 40 hotels representing more than 10,000 rooms in 24 countries with 16 hotels in Asia, 14 in The Americas and 10 in Europe and North Africa.
