Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park to feature in new TV documentary "A Very British Hotel"
The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel in London is set to feature in a three-part series "A Very British Hotel" from next week.
Airing at 9pm on Channel 4 on Thursday 2 March, the European flagship of the award-winning luxury brand will provide an insight into the hotel during its busy summer season from July to September.
Film crews will follow chef Heston Blumenthal and executive chef Ashley Palmer-Watts and the team at the hotel's two-Michelin-starred restaurant Dinner by Heston Blumenthal as they launch a new dish. The series will also feature a visit from actor Morgan Freeman, follow a Chinese wedding and observe the staff catering for overseas royalty and hosting celebrity events.
Featured personalities include general manager Gérard Sintès, head concierge Nigel Bowen, director of events Christopher Thompson and concierge Francois-Xavier Girotto.
It will follow in the footsteps of TV shows on other famous London sites, including Claridge's, the Savoy and the private member's club Annabel's.
A spokesperson for the hotel told The Caterer: "It's a look into how we operate and it's focusing on a few well-known characters within the hotel, and it's a very authentic look at hospitality. Mandarin is a fabulous family to work for, and you will see that through the eyes of our colleagues still at the hotel."
