Master Innholders appoint five new members
The Master Innholders (MI) has announced five new members and appointed Derek Balls as its honorary patron.
The new members - Kiaran MacDonald, managing director, the Savoy; Bernard Murphy, general manager, Gleneagles; Daniel Rose-Bristow, managing director, the Torridon, Inverness-shire; Michael Sloan, general manager, Novotel Hotel London West; and David Taylor, general manager of the new Edition Hotel in London - were presented with certificates at the Worshipful Company of Innholders Court Dinner in London. They join 135 fellow Master Innholders.
Stuart Johnson, chairman of the MI, said: "The award of Master Innholder is testament to the individual contributions of the five gentleman in their local community and their contribution in maintaining standards and development of future talent together with a focus on training within hospitality."
Balls was instrumental in the founding of the MI alongside the HCIMA (now the Institute of Hospitality) in 1978.
