MasterChef semi-finalist to take up residency at New Ellington hotel, Leeds
Elizabeth Cottam has announced a three-month residency at the New Ellington hotel in Wellington Place, Leeds, starting on 1 October.
Cottam, who competed in the last series of MasterChef on BBC One, has created a menu that focuses on classic British cuisine using seasonal ingredients.
Dishes include Yorkshire confit duck with plums, golden beets and soya; aubergine and tomato tart, with whipped Tamworth cheese; and a toffee, apple and vanilla cheesecake.
Cottam said: "My residency will allow me to serve the kind of food I want to make and present it in a top notch restaurant environment, which is really exciting. Autumn is also my choice of season as it allows me to create all my favourite rich and comforting recipes. Food for me is a fantastic excuse for socialising and there is no better place to do this than in a hotel setting."
The 38-bedroom New Ellington hotel became part of the Splendid Hospitality Group in January 2016 following an 18-month refurbishment.
Andrew Kendrick, regional operational manager at Splendid Hospitality Group, said: "At the New Ellington we don't normally operate a full service restaurant, so we felt this was a marvellous opportunity for Elizabeth to showcase her dishes at the hotel. It is fantastic to welcome both our hotel guests and locals alike to the hotel to sample Elizabeth's delicious menus."
