Matt Worswick appointed executive chef at Thornton Hall
Formerly Michelin-starred chef and 2013 Acorn Award winner Matt Worswick has been announced as the new executive chef at Thornton Hall hotel and spa in Wirral.
The three-AA-rosette restaurant the Lawns is seeking to refresh its food offer, increase its creativity and quality, and hopes to work towards winning a Michelin star for the North East region.
Liverpool-born Worswick will now lead a 21-strong kitchen brigade, working across the fine-dining restaurant as well as the hotel's brasserie, private dining, lounge bar and banqueting facilities.
His career to date has included working with David Everitt-Matthias at Le Champignon Sauvage, Simon Hulstone at the Elephant in Torquay, Glenapp Castle in 2013 (for which he won a star), and most recently neighbourhood brasserie in Southport, the Warehouse.
Geoff Dale, general manager of the hotel, said: "Matt's experience, energy and clarity of vision about the Lawns' future makes him such an exciting and pivotal addition to the team. The Lawns has really earned its reputation as one of the North West's best fine dining restaurants and we're very much working towards Michelin standard food. Matt is leading that charge."
Speaking of his new appointment, Worswick said: "I'm privileged to be joining such a passionate and experienced team and am keen to build on the hotel's success locally, regionally and indeed nationally."
