Matt Worswick to replace Michael Wignall at the Latymer at Pennyhill Park

Matt Worswick is to take up the post of head chef of the Latymer at Pennyhill Park in Bagshot, Surrey, from 1 March this year.

The 2014 Acorn Award winner joins from Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa in the Wirral, where he has been executive chef for the past 18 months.

Worswick fills the role vacated by Michael Wignall, who has moved to Brownsword Hotels' Gidleigh Park as executive head chef.

Wignall held two Michelin stars at Michael Wignall at the Latymer, while Worswick won a star as head chef of Glenapp Castle in Ayrshire at the age of 26.

Worswick, now 28, has also worked for David Everitt-Matthias at the two-Michelin-starred Le Champignon Sauvage, having begun his career at the Crofters Hotel in Lancashire, before moving to the Michelin-starred St Martins-on-the-Isle on the Isles of Scilly, working with Kenny Atkinson, where he achieved a Michelin Rising Star award in 2007.

He also secured a place as a semi-finalist on BBC MasterChef: The Professionals in 2010 and was a regional finalist representing the North West in BBC2's Great British Menu 2015.
