Matthew Long to replace Richard Baker as Luton Hoo GM

Richard Baker has left his post as general manager of the Luton Hoo hotel in Bedfordshire, Caterer can exclusively reveal.

He will be replaced by Matthew Long, who joined Elite hotels in 2003 and has been deputy general manager of the 18th century stately home since before its opening in 2007.

Graeme Bateman, managing director of Elite Hotels, said: "Richard Baker left the employment of Elite Hotels on Thursday, July 16th. This was the result of a mutual agreement."

Baker had been at the hotel since February 2008.

The Grade I-listed Robert Adams designed property with Capability Brown-landscaped gardens opened in October 2007, after eight years of discussions over planning permission and £60m investment.
