MHG to launch Mondrian New York and other international news

MHG to launch Mondrian New YorkMorgans Hotel Group (MHG) is to develop a Mondrian hotel in Manhattan in New York City. The Mondrian SoHo will be operated by MHG under a long-term management contract and is expected to open during the second half of 2009. The hotel is anticipated to have more than 270 rooms as well as a bar and restaurant. It is also expected to have a ballroom, meeting rooms, exercise facility and a penthouse suite with outdoor space that can be used as a guest room or for private events. The hotel is the sixth announced Mondrian property, after Los Angeles and Scottsdale, and properties under development in Las Vegas, Miami and Chicago.

Hyatt plans 20 new-build hotels for US expansion Hyatt Place has announced its development results for the first half of 2007 with an additional 20 new build hotels, bringing the total number of new build Hyatt Place projects under development to 50 hotels. These new projects, which include the first Hyatt Place hotels in major metropolitan markets, will add to Hyatt Place's growing portfolio, which will reach 120 hotels across the USA by year-end 2007.

Conrad to launch first hotel in South America
Conrad Hotels & Resorts is to launch its first property in South America with the opening of the Conrad Buenos Aires in Argentina. Construction of the Conrad Buenos Aires is expected to begin in 2008 and completion is scheduled for early 2010. Located in the Puerto Madero district within Argentina's capital, the 190-room hotel will feature a signature restaurant, a lobby bar, fitness facilities and close to 7,000 sq ft of meeting space. Conrad Hotels & Resorts currently has 17 properties in urban and resort destinations worldwide. New properties are in conversion in the Maldives and under development in Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, the Bahamas and Koh Samui, Thailand.

Wagamama to enter Switzerland SV Group has released plans to launch noodle-restaurant concept Wagamama in Switzerland. The company said the first Wagamama restaurant will be opened in a major Swiss city during the next year. It added that there is potential for the company to have between five and eight noodle restaurants in the country in the longer term. SV Group will become the exclusive franchisee of UK Wagamama. The first Wagamama restaurant opened 1992 in London. Currently, there are 77 restaurants worldwide, around 50 of them in the UK.
