Michelin announces new Bib Gourmands via Twitter tease
In the run up to the anticipated launch of its Guide for Great Britain and Ireland 2016 tomorrow (Thursday 17 September), Michelin UK has drip-fed its collection of new Bib Gourmand restaurants via social media.
Further announcements regarding the awards are expected to be made today. Last year, Michelin awarded 26 new Bib Gourmands in the UK and Ireland.
Brassica Grill in Southport, near Manchester, was the first restaurant to receive the good news, with Michelin describing the venture as offering "a kitchen who clearly care about their cooking".
The restaurant, run by chef-proprietor Paul Faulkner, immediately replied on Twitter with: "Brilliant news!" Faulkner previously ran the kitchen of the Modern restaurant at Urbis, Manchester, having earlier worked in London for Harvey Nichols at the Oxo Tower and the Knightsbridge store.
The other 10 Bib Gourmands announced during the Twitter tease included three pubs: the Dunsforth, Lower Dunsforth, North Yorkshire; White Swan, Fence, Lancashire; and Chadwicks Inn, Maltby, Teeside.
The new Bib Gourmands in the UK announced yesterday were:
L'Amorosa, Hammersmith, London
The Anchor Riverside pub and grill, Hullbridge, Essex
