Michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin to leave Bohemia
Michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin is to leave his post as head chef at the Bohemia restaurant in Jersey to set up on his own.
The former Great British Menu star will leave at the end of the year, after nine years at the restaurant. He will launch a new venture under his SR brand in the New Year.
Rankin has been at the helm of Bohemia since its launch in 2003. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2005.
Commenting on his departure, Rankin said: "It has been an amazing nine years at Bohemia and I've been privileged to work with a dedicated and hard-working team throughout. However, it has been a landmark year for the SR brand and it's time for me to move forward to new opportunities.
"I will remain dedicated to the Channel Islands and I have great aspirations for my culinary future here. I will also be extending my UK TV appearances. I am very excited about the future and I want to thank everybody who has supported me - watch this space."
Bohemia owner Lawrence Huggler added: "Bohemia with head chef Shaun Rankin led a renaissance of fine dining in Jersey, gaining the only Michelin star in Jersey 18 months after launching and a couple of years later becoming the first four-AA-rosette restaurant ever in the Channel Islands.
"We wish Shaun every success in the future with his exciting new projects and we have very much enjoyed working together over nine fantastic years. I am looking forward to announcing shortly with whom and how we will be raising the bar once more for fine dining in Jersey at Bohemia in 2013."
