Montagu Arms wins Tea Guild's award for Top City and Country Hotel destination
Freshly baked scones and knowledgeable service has helped the Montagu Arms hotel in Hampshire to win the Tea Guild's Top City and Country Hotel Tea Award 2013.
Presented this morning, the award follows on from the Tea Guild's accolade for Top London Afternoon Tea 2013, which was presented to the Goring hotel earlier this week.
The anonymous judging of hotels across the UK found the service of afternoon tea at the four-star, 22-bedroom hotel in Beaulieu to be "near-perfect".
Head of The Tea Guild Irene Gorman said: "The Montagu Arms was favoured by the judges for its delightful surroundings, the staff's extensive knowledge of teas, and really scrumptious food.
"Afternoon tea is enjoying a well-deserved resurgence. It is an increasingly fashionable way to catch up with friends, take a break from shopping, or even conduct a business meeting. Modern life can be hectic and demanding and taking afternoon tea is the perfect way to slow down and relax."
Sunil Kanjanghat, manager of the Montagu Arms, said the hotel was thrilled to have won the award.
"Our customers demand the very best and we strive at all times to fulfil their expectations," he explained. "It's a real team effort here and all our staff work tirelessly to create somewhere special, where the quality of food and tea, relaxing atmosphere and the very best standards are paramount."
