Montcalm Hotels to open luxury property in London
Montcalm Hotels has announced plans to open a luxury hotel in London's Chiswell Street, on the site left vacant and unfinished by buy-to-let operator GuestInvest after it went into administration last year.
The Montcalm London City Hotel, which is expected to open its doors next June, will be situated adjacent to conference and event venue the Brewery in the Grade-II listed building, and both businesses expect to benefit from the arrangement.
The Montcalm management said: "The Chiswell Street location and relationship with the Brewery will no doubt attract a large number of business travellers and conference delegates looking for luxury accommodation in the heart of the city.
"The hotel will reflect the same exceptional design, advanced technology and personal service as our Marble Arch hotel."
The Brewery's general manager Maria Duddin agreed: "The development of the hotel will allow us to move into new markets within the events and incentive travel industry and will offer a complete 24-hour solution for all of our guests.
"The addition of the extra meeting spaces will allow us to meet the increasing demand we are seeing for the award winning event space at the Brewery."
The hotel is currently undergoing a major development programme to transform the property into a 235-bedroom hotel, with the aim of offering "boutique design while retaining heritage values".
In addition to king-size bedroom suites designed for business travellers, the hotel will offer Heritage Brewery Suites for the leisure market, an on-site gym and spa and all day restaurant.
The opening of the hotel will provide additional event space designed for intimate boardroom meetings and private dinners, meaning the Brewery's number of available rooms will increase from eight to 12.
