More than 800 hotels under development in Europe

There are currently 814 hotels under development across Europe, according to the STR Global Construction Pipeline Report for April 2013.
The figures relate to all projects in the construction, final planning and planning stages and involve a total of 134,912 bedrooms.
So far this year 67 hotels have opened in the region, with a further 215 expected to launch throughout 2013.
The greatest concentration of new hotels is in the upscale segment with 44 properties, followed by the upper midscale segment (42 hotels) rooms) and upper upscale segment (24 hotels).
Next year, 233 hotels are forecast to open across Europe.
