Motel One announce three new hotels for UK

German budget hotel brand Motel One has confirmed details of three new hotels in the UK with a total of 897 bedrooms.

The properties in Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester will join four existing hotels in the UK in Edinburgh (two), Manchester and London.

First to open in 2016 will be the 222-bedroom Motel One Newcastle. Located near the city's Central Station, the hotel will be created from the renovation of a 50-bedroom property, combined with an extension of 172 rooms.

The 301-bedroom Motel One Manchester-Cross Street will join sister hotel Manchester-Piccadilly, when it opens in autumn 2017.

Finally, the 374-bedroom Motel One Glasgow, located next to the city's Central Station, will become Scotland's largest hotel by room numbers when it opens in 2018.

Stefan Lenze, head of development at Motel One, said that the UK market is "a very exciting one" for the company. "By 2018 we will have seven hotels with about 1,900 rooms in the UK. Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester are key cities for us and we will provide great value and designer accommodation for affordable prices."

Founded in 2000, Motel One currently operates 51 hotels and approximately 13,900 rooms in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Czech Republic and the UK. In addition to the Newcastle opening, next year will also see new hotels in Basel, Freiburg, Munich and Stuttgart.
