Moxy submits plans for York hotel

Plans have been submitted for a 120-bedroom Moxy hotel in York.

The land on Dundas Street was originally bought by Vastint Hospitality in 2015. It has now submitted plans for a five-storey hotel with a ‘rising terrace' design.

In a design and access statement prepared by architects CSP, seen by the York Press, the development was described as including a new public plaza.

The statement said: "The building has been configured to respond to an eclectic townscape setting and is modelled to successfully reconcile significant scale transitions between adjacent buildings on all sides. It removes a void in the urban grain and reinstates a formal streetscape to complete the enclosure of the public domain."

"The design respects the character of important heritage and landmark buildings close to the site with a distinctive architectural composition that maintains the visual clarity of buildings in the group."
