Mr & Mrs Smith guide is set to go European

James Lohan and partner Tamara Heber-Percy, who wrote the original Mr & Mrs Smith hotel guide, now plan to publish a European edition which will cover 16 Continental cities. The tome will be published in November this year.

The guide is aimed at affluent 25- to 45-year-old couples, but unlike Hip Hotels, which has a similar target audience, not all the properties featured in the book are design hotels.

The couple decided to launch the original Mr & Mrs Smith after a disappointing weekend away in May 2002. By October the pair had raised £180,000 and registered Mr & Mrs Smith as a company.

A year later the guidebook (pictured) was on sale. It has sold more than 28,000 copies and the company is on track to turn over £1m this year, compared with £400,000 in its first year.
