A new brand of design-led aparthotels focusing on providing a community atmosphere has launched in Hammersmith, west London.
Room 2 has been created by Lamington Group, a property business which already operates 70 serviced apartments in Hammersmith and Brook Green.
It has launched with a 16-room, six storey townhouse, developed with architects Rawspace.
Further sites will open in 2017 and 2018. They will include a site in Chiswick and a 71-room property in Southampton, which will be designed by Project Orange, the architects and design studio behind the refurbishment of Eynsham Hall hotel in Witney, Oxfordshire, and a concept room at the Hoxton hotel.
Guests will be given the option of long and short-term stays. Alongside in-room kitchens, features include a communal herb garden, healthy-vending machines, yoga-mats and on-demand movies.
Robert Godwin, founder of Room 2 and managing director of Lamington, said the Hammersmith site is "just the beginning" for the new brand. "The sector is still evolving and with Room 2, we hope to bring the design-led approach of some of the most inspiring modern hotel brands to residents looking for a more welcoming environment which offers guests total freedom.
"Millennial travellers and workers are looking for more from their stays - they want local experiences, a community atmosphere and thoughtful design. Room 2 has been created with this in mind and we have created a place where residents can work, and play in beautiful surroundings."
