New Mercure hotel for St Helens

The 84-bedroom independently operated Chalon Court hotel in St Helens, Merseyside, is to be rebranded under AccorHotels' mid-market brand Mercure.

Owned by Balaji Hotels St Helens, the town-centre property will be operated under a franchise agreement, from April 2017. Balaji Hotels St. Helens is owned by Gaurav Agarwal.

Thomas Dubaere, managing director of AccorHotels UK & Ireland said: "Accelerating the franchise growth of the Mercure brand is a key strategic priority for us in 2017 and we remain focused on seeking additional growth opportunities in the UK."

Mercure now has 80 hotels across the UK, with a total of 732 properties in 55 countries worldwide.
